Movement Therapy
In due course, dementia and the natural process of aging can affect both mental and physical performance. In addition to diminishing cerebral capacity, limited physical performance greatly reduces the quality of life. Physical abilities such as walking or climbing stairs are key to the independence of older people. Therefore, physical activity and light weight training for those affected is very important. At CAREWELL we offer walks, water gymnastics, swimming, dancing, ball games, light weight training and other movement therapy activities. In addition, our residents and guests can assist with small jobs in the garden or the kitchen, when they wish. Our goal is to promote residents’ and guests’ independence and resourcefulness. In addition to the classic swimming and paddling, we perform aqua fit, aqua jogging and water aerobics together with our residents and guests. The buoyancy of the water relieves the joints, muscles, spine and intervertebral discs of the body’s normal weight. The daily load of our body weight on muscles and joints is reduced in the water to approximately 10% of its normal weight. Water activity protects the joints and it is fun, too. During our Movement Therapy, Mobility is generally improved and the movements are facilitated.
Due to the great climate in Thailand and the fact that there is a wheelchair accessible salt water pool with jacuzzi, every guest has a spa pass for 365 days a year!
